“National Engineers Week at the University of Delaware”
2013 marks the 62nd year for the national celebration.
The University of Delaware (UD), College of Engineering (COE) participates in the 2013 National Engineers Week, beginning February 17 through February 23, 2013. Founded in 1951 by the National Society of Professional Engineers, National Engineers Week is an annual celebration of the positive contributions engineers make to society. It is celebrated annually by thousands of engineers, engineering students, teachers and leaders in government and business. The National Engineers Week consortium includes more than 100 engineering, scientific and education societies and major corporations committed to preparing the next generation of engineering talent by helping to remove the social, education and economic barriers that deter young students from pursuing careers in STEM – science, technology, engineering and mathematics. The national program also provides programs, toolkits and a variety of resources for K-12 educators, as well as college and licensed professionals. Leading the National Engineers Week 2013 effort are Lockheed Martin and NCEES.
