Imposition of Ashes
Ash Wednesday is the first day of Lent in the Western Christian Calendar. It is the beginning of the 40 day liturgical period of prayer and fasting or abstinence. Ashes are placed on the foreheads as a celebration and reminder of human mortality and as a sign of mourning and repentance to God. Ashes are typically gathered from the burning of the Palms from the previous year's Palm, Sunday.
Please join us as Ashes will be distributed on the Green on Wednesday, March 5th from 11:30 A.M to 1:30 P.M. Sponsored by Catholic, Episcopal, Lutheran, Methodist and Presbyterian Chaplaincies.
