PAUL R. JONES ANNUAL LECTURE: Thomas Allen Harris
Filmmaker Thomas Allen Harris delivers a talk entitled "The Book of the Family Tree." Harris’s recently completed documentary, Through a Lens Darkly: Black Photographers and the Emergence of a People*, chronicles the history of African American photographers and the camera/photographer’s role in projecting and shaping the identity, aspirations, and social emergence of African Americans from slavery to the present. This event is free and open to the public.
The Paul R. Jones Initiative fosters educational inquiry, interdisciplinary engagement, and critical thinking with and through African American art at the University of Delaware.
*A free public screening of Harris' film Through a Lens Darkly will be held in Kirkbride 006 on Saturday, March 7, 2:00-4:00 PM.
