The Day Before Tomorrow
Syrian Artist, Emad Jano Hemede, is the International Artist in Residence at the University of Delaware for the Art Bridging Cultures Program. He titled his event “The Day Before Tomorrow” to illustrate how the peace and beauty that previously existed in Syria is now shattered by the conflict.
The audience is invited to participate in a process of creation and destruction of history via art form: the flour design on the floor symbolizes life in its fragile form. Combining Middle Eastern symbols, music and dance the artist invites the audience to experience how difficult it is to create beauty and how fleeting its existence it truly is.
