Are you an educator teaching in a K12 classroom or in an afterschool program, youth group program, or non-profit setting? Do you serve youth from Wilmington or the Route 9 Corridor? If so, this workshop is for you!

Join us on Tuesday, August 11 for a FREE workshop for classroom and informal educators* serving youth from Wilmington or Route 9 Corridor. In this place-based workshop event, educators will learn about the many origins of litter, its fate in the environment, and the formation of marine debris and microplastics, as well as the consequences it can have on the natural world and our human communities. This workshop has a place-based focus on the upper Delaware Bay watershed.

Educators will not only learn about these concepts, but also participate in hands-on activities, gain insight into prevention and stewardship activities youth can participate in, and have access to educational resources and clean-up supply kits.

We welcome educators who serve youth from Wilmington or the Route 9 Corridor in any K12 school, afterschool program, youth group program, or non-profit setting.

This event is supported by a comprehensive course site on Canvas, UD’s Learning Management System. When faculty are hired, they will be provided access to the New Faculty Orientation Canvas site for their first year at UD. Additional workshops for New Faculty are available throughout the academic year through programming at the university, college, and unit level.

Gameday 101 is the ultimate kickoff to your Blue Hen experience! Join fellow incoming students for a pep rally and tailgate to learn the fight song, alma mater and other game day traditions with the help of our marching band, spirit squad and Delaware athletic varsity teams.

Take a bus from Gore Hall, the North Campus and Perkins to get to our Gameday 101 program on South Campus! Loops start at 6:30 p.m.

Organized in celebration of the 250th anniversary of American independence, Hallowed Grounds draws from the Lincoln Club of Delaware’s Abraham Lincoln Collection in Special Collections to explore how and why Lincoln is honored and remembered across generations. Through books, event programs, menus, maps and ephemera, visitors are invited to explore the many shrines and tributes to Lincoln across our land and reflect on the unique place he holds in American memory.

The History and Future of Sex Education in the United States explores this complex history through a wide range of materials spanning from the early 20th century to the present. The exhibition brings together school curricula, legal documents addressing the implementation of sex education in public schools, as well as advice books aimed at both parents and adolescents. These materials reveal how public understanding of sex education has evolved over time and how deeply it has been influenced by changing social attitudes, policy decisions, and cultural expectations.

By presenting these items side by side, the exhibition invites visitors to consider not only how sex education has changed, but also the persistent gaps that remain. It encourages reflection on questions of access, inclusion, identity, and ability, and asks us to think critically about what equitable and comprehensive sex education could look like in the future.

Following a careful meal plan is the first step in managing diabetes and keeping blood sugars in a therapeutic range. It is also the hardest step. Dining with Diabetes helps by teaching people with diabetes ways to reduce sugar, salt and fat in foods without giving up good taste.

PARTICIPANTS

People with diabetes and their family members, caregivers and support persons can enroll in Dining with Diabetes. Anyone, with or without diabetes, can attend. This program is designed to complement, not replace, diabetes management classes.

INSTRUCTORS

Classes are taught by University of Delaware Cooperative Extension staff.

An artistic composition, often three-dimensional, created by combining found objects and disparate materials such as metal, paper, or stone.

3. mixed media (noun) \ ˈmikst ˈmē-dē-ə \

An approach to artmaking that combines two or more artistic methods, including painting, drawing, collage, printmaking, or photography, within a single work.

These three experimental techniques can challenge the boundaries of traditional or rigid categories of art by incorporating found objects or repurposed imagery alongside hand-applied materials, creating new compositions and new meanings and offering a reflective approach to questions of authorship. Now, enter Assembled: Collage, Assemblage and Mixed Media–an exhibition carefully curated to celebrate a selection of works of artists who have done just that. Drawing on a key strength of the collection, the exhibition highlights works built through accumulation, juxtaposition and transformation.

On view are compositions that bring together found objects and repurposed imagery with hand-rendered marks, creating layered works that engage questions of authorship, memory and meaning. These visual exchanges between the handmade and the sourced invite close looking and reflection on how artists construct new narratives from existing materials.

The installation includes works long used in teaching, including those by David Driskell and Sam Gilliam, alongside works not exhibited in recent years. It also introduces recent acquisitions, including collages by Phoebe Beasley, John Digby, and Theodore A. Harris, and an assemblage by Carol Cole.

Intended for students, faculty, staff, and the broader public, Assembled supports critical inquiry while emphasizing the continued relevance of experimental practices in modern and contemporary art.

Organized in celebration of the 250th anniversary of American independence, Hallowed Grounds draws from the Lincoln Club of Delaware’s Abraham Lincoln Collection in Special Collections to explore how and why Lincoln is honored and remembered across generations. Through books, event programs, menus, maps and ephemera, visitors are invited to explore the many shrines and tributes to Lincoln across our land and reflect on the unique place he holds in American memory.

Exploring a range of visual and material culture, The People Could Fly surveys art that represents American, Caribbean, and African spiritual traditions while simultaneously intertwining themes of Black liberty across time and space. Together, these works understand the multifaceted range of Black religious traditions as journeys to a present or eventual spiritual home where a shared freedom can be enjoyed. Exploring the impact of these cultural phenomena, this exhibition will traverse an expansive range of traditions, including indigenous African spirituality, Voodoo, Islam, and Christianity. Ultimately, these works not only honor the multifaceted nature of Black religions, but also showcase a shared belief in the unalienable rights of Black life.

From vibrant mimetite to sparkling galena, lead plays a surprising role in the formation of eye-catching minerals. Even in everyday objects, its influence is seen—like in leaded glass, or crystal, which owes its signature sparkle and weight to the presence of lead.

This exhibition showcases an array of stunning lead minerals from around the globe, including specimens from Australia, Namibia, Morocco and the United States.

A highlight of the collection is a remarkable bright yellow mimetite from Mexico, sourced from the long-shuttered Congresso Mine. In 1968, mineral dealer Benny Fenn descended 900 feet into the abandoned site and discovered a hidden chamber, 40 by 20 feet, lined with vivid yellow crystals. After months of careful extraction, the mimetite specimens debuted at mineral shows by the hundreds—today, they are prized rarities.

The History and Future of Sex Education in the United States explores this complex history through a wide range of materials spanning from the early 20th century to the present. The exhibition brings together school curricula, legal documents addressing the implementation of sex education in public schools, as well as advice books aimed at both parents and adolescents. These materials reveal how public understanding of sex education has evolved over time and how deeply it has been influenced by changing social attitudes, policy decisions, and cultural expectations.

By presenting these items side by side, the exhibition invites visitors to consider not only how sex education has changed, but also the persistent gaps that remain. It encourages reflection on questions of access, inclusion, identity, and ability, and asks us to think critically about what equitable and comprehensive sex education could look like in the future.

An artistic composition, often three-dimensional, created by combining found objects and disparate materials such as metal, paper, or stone.

3. mixed media (noun) \ ˈmikst ˈmē-dē-ə \

An approach to artmaking that combines two or more artistic methods, including painting, drawing, collage, printmaking, or photography, within a single work.

These three experimental techniques can challenge the boundaries of traditional or rigid categories of art by incorporating found objects or repurposed imagery alongside hand-applied materials, creating new compositions and new meanings and offering a reflective approach to questions of authorship. Now, enter Assembled: Collage, Assemblage and Mixed Media–an exhibition carefully curated to celebrate a selection of works of artists who have done just that. Drawing on a key strength of the collection, the exhibition highlights works built through accumulation, juxtaposition and transformation.

On view are compositions that bring together found objects and repurposed imagery with hand-rendered marks, creating layered works that engage questions of authorship, memory and meaning. These visual exchanges between the handmade and the sourced invite close looking and reflection on how artists construct new narratives from existing materials.

The installation includes works long used in teaching, including those by David Driskell and Sam Gilliam, alongside works not exhibited in recent years. It also introduces recent acquisitions, including collages by Phoebe Beasley, John Digby, and Theodore A. Harris, and an assemblage by Carol Cole.

Intended for students, faculty, staff, and the broader public, Assembled supports critical inquiry while emphasizing the continued relevance of experimental practices in modern and contemporary art.

Organized in celebration of the 250th anniversary of American independence, Hallowed Grounds draws from the Lincoln Club of Delaware’s Abraham Lincoln Collection in Special Collections to explore how and why Lincoln is honored and remembered across generations. Through books, event programs, menus, maps and ephemera, visitors are invited to explore the many shrines and tributes to Lincoln across our land and reflect on the unique place he holds in American memory.

Hallowed Grounds is on view from August 25 through December 18, 2026, in the Lincoln Exhibition Case, which is located outside the Special Collections Gallery in Morris Library. The exhibition is free and open to the public during the Library’s regular hours.

Exploring a range of visual and material culture, The People Could Fly surveys art that represents American, Caribbean, and African spiritual traditions while simultaneously intertwining themes of Black liberty across time and space. Together, these works understand the multifaceted range of Black religious traditions as journeys to a present or eventual spiritual home where a shared freedom can be enjoyed. Exploring the impact of these cultural phenomena, this exhibition will traverse an expansive range of traditions, including indigenous African spirituality, Voodoo, Islam, and Christianity. Ultimately, these works not only honor the multifaceted nature of Black religions, but also showcase a shared belief in the unalienable rights of Black life.

From vibrant mimetite to sparkling galena, lead plays a surprising role in the formation of eye-catching minerals. Even in everyday objects, its influence is seen—like in leaded glass, or crystal, which owes its signature sparkle and weight to the presence of lead.

This exhibition showcases an array of stunning lead minerals from around the globe, including specimens from Australia, Namibia, Morocco and the United States.

A highlight of the collection is a remarkable bright yellow mimetite from Mexico, sourced from the long-shuttered Congresso Mine. In 1968, mineral dealer Benny Fenn descended 900 feet into the abandoned site and discovered a hidden chamber, 40 by 20 feet, lined with vivid yellow crystals. After months of careful extraction, the mimetite specimens debuted at mineral shows by the hundreds—today, they are prized rarities.

Where Do We Go From Here? The History and Future of Sex Education in the United States explores this complex history through a wide range of materials spanning from the early 20th century to the present. The exhibition brings together school curricula, legal documents addressing the implementation of sex education in public schools, as well as advice books aimed at both parents and adolescents. These materials reveal how public understanding of sex education has evolved over time and how deeply it has been influenced by changing social attitudes, policy decisions, and cultural expectations.

By presenting these items side by side, the exhibition invites visitors to consider not only how sex education has changed, but also the persistent gaps that remain. It encourages reflection on questions of access, inclusion, identity, and ability, and asks us to think critically about what equitable and comprehensive sex education could look like in the future.

Where Do We Go From Here? will be on view from August 25 through December 18, 2026, in the Morris Library Information Room at the University of Delaware Library, Museums and Press. The exhibition is free and open to the public during regular library hours.

An artistic composition, often three-dimensional, created by combining found objects and disparate materials such as metal, paper, or stone.

3. mixed media (noun) \ ˈmikst ˈmē-dē-ə \

An approach to artmaking that combines two or more artistic methods, including painting, drawing, collage, printmaking, or photography, within a single work.

These three experimental techniques can challenge the boundaries of traditional or rigid categories of art by incorporating found objects or repurposed imagery alongside hand-applied materials, creating new compositions and new meanings and offering a reflective approach to questions of authorship. Now, enter Assembled: Collage, Assemblage and Mixed Media–an exhibition carefully curated to celebrate a selection of works of artists who have done just that. Drawing on a key strength of the collection, the exhibition highlights works built through accumulation, juxtaposition and transformation.

On view are compositions that bring together found objects and repurposed imagery with hand-rendered marks, creating layered works that engage questions of authorship, memory and meaning. These visual exchanges between the handmade and the sourced invite close looking and reflection on how artists construct new narratives from existing materials.

The installation includes works long used in teaching, including those by David Driskell and Sam Gilliam, alongside works not exhibited in recent years. It also introduces recent acquisitions, including collages by Phoebe Beasley, John Digby, and Theodore A. Harris, and an assemblage by Carol Cole.

Intended for students, faculty, staff, and the broader public, Assembled supports critical inquiry while emphasizing the continued relevance of experimental practices in modern and contemporary art.

Organized in celebration of the 250th anniversary of American independence, Hallowed Grounds draws from the Lincoln Club of Delaware’s Abraham Lincoln Collection in Special Collections to explore how and why Lincoln is honored and remembered across generations. Through books, event programs, menus, maps and ephemera, visitors are invited to explore the many shrines and tributes to Lincoln across our land and reflect on the unique place he holds in American memory.

Hallowed Grounds is on view from August 25 through December 18, 2026, in the Lincoln Exhibition Case, which is located outside the Special Collections Gallery in Morris Library. The exhibition is free and open to the public during the Library’s regular hours.

Exploring a range of visual and material culture, The People Could Fly surveys art that represents American, Caribbean, and African spiritual traditions while simultaneously intertwining themes of Black liberty across time and space. Together, these works understand the multifaceted range of Black religious traditions as journeys to a present or eventual spiritual home where a shared freedom can be enjoyed. Exploring the impact of these cultural phenomena, this exhibition will traverse an expansive range of traditions, including indigenous African spirituality, Voodoo, Islam, and Christianity. Ultimately, these works not only honor the multifaceted nature of Black religions, but also showcase a shared belief in the unalienable rights of Black life.

From vibrant mimetite to sparkling galena, lead plays a surprising role in the formation of eye-catching minerals. Even in everyday objects, its influence is seen—like in leaded glass, or crystal, which owes its signature sparkle and weight to the presence of lead.

This exhibition showcases an array of stunning lead minerals from around the globe, including specimens from Australia, Namibia, Morocco and the United States.

A highlight of the collection is a remarkable bright yellow mimetite from Mexico, sourced from the long-shuttered Congresso Mine. In 1968, mineral dealer Benny Fenn descended 900 feet into the abandoned site and discovered a hidden chamber, 40 by 20 feet, lined with vivid yellow crystals. After months of careful extraction, the mimetite specimens debuted at mineral shows by the hundreds—today, they are prized rarities.

Where Do We Go From Here? The History and Future of Sex Education in the United States explores this complex history through a wide range of materials spanning from the early 20th century to the present. The exhibition brings together school curricula, legal documents addressing the implementation of sex education in public schools, as well as advice books aimed at both parents and adolescents. These materials reveal how public understanding of sex education has evolved over time and how deeply it has been influenced by changing social attitudes, policy decisions, and cultural expectations.

By presenting these items side by side, the exhibition invites visitors to consider not only how sex education has changed, but also the persistent gaps that remain. It encourages reflection on questions of access, inclusion, identity, and ability, and asks us to think critically about what equitable and comprehensive sex education could look like in the future.

This two day workshop and certification exam meet food safety training requirements by Delaware Public Health and the Delaware Department of Agriculture for those who want to prepare non-hazardous foods in their own home for sale in Delaware. Examples of these foods are baked good, jams, jellies and preserves.

This workshop takes place at the Kent County Extension Office over two evenings. You must attend BOTH sessions from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. The registration fee is $60.00 per person, and registration closes one week prior to the event date.

Cultivating Wellness at Nemours

Nemours Estate has undergone a massive shift in the visitor experience of the property, both in operations and interpretation, all in order to serve their primary audience, the patients and families of Nemours Children's Hospital. Ken will speak to the organization’s journey to becoming its most authentic version of itself, and along the way find the power in well-being.

Ken Darsney is the Manager of Gardens and Grounds for Nemours Estate, the former home of Alfred I. duPont. Ken and his team oversee the care of the 300-acre property, which ranges from large-scale French-style formal gardens to native woodlands, and everything in between. Prior to this position, Ken was the Horticultural Supervisor for the State of Delaware’s Division of Historical and Cultural Affairs, overseeing the stewardship of the landscapes of over 40 historic properties throughout the State.

An artistic composition, often three-dimensional, created by combining found objects and disparate materials such as metal, paper, or stone.

3. mixed media (noun) \ ˈmikst ˈmē-dē-ə \

An approach to artmaking that combines two or more artistic methods, including painting, drawing, collage, printmaking, or photography, within a single work.

These three experimental techniques can challenge the boundaries of traditional or rigid categories of art by incorporating found objects or repurposed imagery alongside hand-applied materials, creating new compositions and new meanings and offering a reflective approach to questions of authorship. Now, enter Assembled: Collage, Assemblage and Mixed Media–an exhibition carefully curated to celebrate a selection of works of artists who have done just that. Drawing on a key strength of the collection, the exhibition highlights works built through accumulation, juxtaposition and transformation.

On view are compositions that bring together found objects and repurposed imagery with hand-rendered marks, creating layered works that engage questions of authorship, memory and meaning. These visual exchanges between the handmade and the sourced invite close looking and reflection on how artists construct new narratives from existing materials.

The installation includes works long used in teaching, including those by David Driskell and Sam Gilliam, alongside works not exhibited in recent years. It also introduces recent acquisitions, including collages by Phoebe Beasley, John Digby, and Theodore A. Harris, and an assemblage by Carol Cole.

Intended for students, faculty, staff, and the broader public, Assembled supports critical inquiry while emphasizing the continued relevance of experimental practices in modern and contemporary art.

Organized in celebration of the 250th anniversary of American independence, Hallowed Grounds draws from the Lincoln Club of Delaware’s Abraham Lincoln Collection in Special Collections to explore how and why Lincoln is honored and remembered across generations. Through books, event programs, menus, maps and ephemera, visitors are invited to explore the many shrines and tributes to Lincoln across our land and reflect on the unique place he holds in American memory.

Hallowed Grounds is on view from August 25 through December 18, 2026, in the Lincoln Exhibition Case, which is located outside the Special Collections Gallery in Morris Library. The exhibition is free and open to the public during the Library’s regular hours.

Exploring a range of visual and material culture, The People Could Fly surveys art that represents American, Caribbean, and African spiritual traditions while simultaneously intertwining themes of Black liberty across time and space. Together, these works understand the multifaceted range of Black religious traditions as journeys to a present or eventual spiritual home where a shared freedom can be enjoyed. Exploring the impact of these cultural phenomena, this exhibition will traverse an expansive range of traditions, including indigenous African spirituality, Voodoo, Islam, and Christianity. Ultimately, these works not only honor the multifaceted nature of Black religions, but also showcase a shared belief in the unalienable rights of Black life.

From vibrant mimetite to sparkling galena, lead plays a surprising role in the formation of eye-catching minerals. Even in everyday objects, its influence is seen—like in leaded glass, or crystal, which owes its signature sparkle and weight to the presence of lead.

This exhibition showcases an array of stunning lead minerals from around the globe, including specimens from Australia, Namibia, Morocco and the United States.

A highlight of the collection is a remarkable bright yellow mimetite from Mexico, sourced from the long-shuttered Congresso Mine. In 1968, mineral dealer Benny Fenn descended 900 feet into the abandoned site and discovered a hidden chamber, 40 by 20 feet, lined with vivid yellow crystals. After months of careful extraction, the mimetite specimens debuted at mineral shows by the hundreds—today, they are prized rarities.

Join us this fall at the Mineralogical Museum in Penny Hall for a dazzling journey through the hidden brilliance of lead minerals!

Where Do We Go From Here? The History and Future of Sex Education in the United States explores this complex history through a wide range of materials spanning from the early 20th century to the present. The exhibition brings together school curricula, legal documents addressing the implementation of sex education in public schools, as well as advice books aimed at both parents and adolescents. These materials reveal how public understanding of sex education has evolved over time and how deeply it has been influenced by changing social attitudes, policy decisions, and cultural expectations.

By presenting these items side by side, the exhibition invites visitors to consider not only how sex education has changed, but also the persistent gaps that remain. It encourages reflection on questions of access, inclusion, identity, and ability, and asks us to think critically about what equitable and comprehensive sex education could look like in the future.

Where Do We Go From Here? will be on view from August 25 through December 18, 2026, in the Morris Library Information Room at the University of Delaware Library, Museums and Press. The exhibition is free and open to the public during regular library hours.

The installation includes works long used in teaching, including those by David Driskell and Sam Gilliam, alongside works not exhibited in recent years. It also introduces recent acquisitions, including collages by Phoebe Beasley, John Digby, and Theodore A. Harris, and an assemblage by Carol Cole.

Intended for students, faculty, staff, and the broader public, Assembled supports critical inquiry while emphasizing the continued relevance of experimental practices in modern and contemporary art.

Organized in celebration of the 250th anniversary of American independence, Hallowed Grounds draws from the Lincoln Club of Delaware’s Abraham Lincoln Collection in Special Collections to explore how and why Lincoln is honored and remembered across generations. Through books, event programs, menus, maps and ephemera, visitors are invited to explore the many shrines and tributes to Lincoln across our land and reflect on the unique place he holds in American memory.

Hallowed Grounds is on view from August 25 through December 18, 2026, in the Lincoln Exhibition Case, which is located outside the Special Collections Gallery in Morris Library. The exhibition is free and open to the public during the Library’s regular hours.

Exploring a range of visual and material culture, The People Could Fly surveys art that represents American, Caribbean, and African spiritual traditions while simultaneously intertwining themes of Black liberty across time and space. Together, these works understand the multifaceted range of Black religious traditions as journeys to a present or eventual spiritual home where a shared freedom can be enjoyed. Exploring the impact of these cultural phenomena, this exhibition will traverse an expansive range of traditions, including indigenous African spirituality, Voodoo, Islam, and Christianity. Ultimately, these works not only honor the multifaceted nature of Black religions, but also showcase a shared belief in the unalienable rights of Black life.

From vibrant mimetite to sparkling galena, lead plays a surprising role in the formation of eye-catching minerals. Even in everyday objects, its influence is seen—like in leaded glass, or crystal, which owes its signature sparkle and weight to the presence of lead.

This exhibition showcases an array of stunning lead minerals from around the globe, including specimens from Australia, Namibia, Morocco and the United States.

A highlight of the collection is a remarkable bright yellow mimetite from Mexico, sourced from the long-shuttered Congresso Mine. In 1968, mineral dealer Benny Fenn descended 900 feet into the abandoned site and discovered a hidden chamber, 40 by 20 feet, lined with vivid yellow crystals. After months of careful extraction, the mimetite specimens debuted at mineral shows by the hundreds—today, they are prized rarities.

Join us this fall at the Mineralogical Museum in Penny Hall for a dazzling journey through the hidden brilliance of lead minerals!

Where Do We Go From Here? The History and Future of Sex Education in the United States explores this complex history through a wide range of materials spanning from the early 20th century to the present. The exhibition brings together school curricula, legal documents addressing the implementation of sex education in public schools, as well as advice books aimed at both parents and adolescents. These materials reveal how public understanding of sex education has evolved over time and how deeply it has been influenced by changing social attitudes, policy decisions, and cultural expectations.

By presenting these items side by side, the exhibition invites visitors to consider not only how sex education has changed, but also the persistent gaps that remain. It encourages reflection on questions of access, inclusion, identity, and ability, and asks us to think critically about what equitable and comprehensive sex education could look like in the future.

Where Do We Go From Here? will be on view from August 25 through December 18, 2026, in the Morris Library Information Room at the University of Delaware Library, Museums and Press. The exhibition is free and open to the public during regular library hours.

An artistic composition, often three-dimensional, created by combining found objects and disparate materials such as metal, paper, or stone.

3. mixed media (noun) \ ˈmikst ˈmē-dē-ə \

An approach to artmaking that combines two or more artistic methods, including painting, drawing, collage, printmaking, or photography, within a single work.

These three experimental techniques can challenge the boundaries of traditional or rigid categories of art by incorporating found objects or repurposed imagery alongside hand-applied materials, creating new compositions and new meanings and offering a reflective approach to questions of authorship. Now, enter Assembled: Collage, Assemblage and Mixed Media–an exhibition carefully curated to celebrate a selection of works of artists who have done just that.
