As several others and I showed up for this event, we all learned that it wasn't actually scheduled. This was disappointing because I know I and I'm sure many others planned our day around this to make it. Hopefully the next one is actually real.
I thought it was helpful to brush up on some do's and don't's but it was more of a general information workshop and I was under the impression we would be able to work in teams to work on our resumes. I did set an appointment for a consultation with an advisor on the presenter's suggestion.
I think it was very good not only for the RA application, but very informative for any application. Joyce Henderson was very knowledgable and down to earth. It was overall helpful and I plan to take my drafted resume to the Career Center.
The session started almost 20 minutes late because of a miscommunication about who would be giving the presentation. Handshake wasn't working and so we couldn't use it effectively in the workshop. Despite this, the speaker did a great job engaging us in conversation and although I didn't learn as much as I wanted to, I did learn more than I knew before. I think maybe this workshop should be postponed until the bugs in Handshake are worked out.
