Attention: Freshman, Sophomore, and Junior Education Majors!

You're invited to an Information Meeting about UD's Exceptional Children and Youth 4+1 Options in Special Education: Elementary, Secondary, or Autism/Severe Disabilities on Zoom on Monday, October 7, 4-5 PM. We are asking folks to preregister using the link below:

Then, after registering, authenticated users will receive a confirmation email containing information about joining the meeting.

The 4+1 options are exclusively for UD undergraduate education majors who want to begin their master's degree while still an undergraduate.

Students apply to the M.Ed for Exceptional Children & Youth in December of their junior year and take courses in their senior year that may count towards their undergraduate and master's degrees. The master's degree is completed in the fifth year.

• Elementary Teacher Education or Secondary Education (middle school, RCE, or ESL concentrations) majors who complete the program are eligible for additional certification in Special Education(K-12 in Delaware) through the 4+1 in Special Education (Elementary/Secondary) program.

• Elementary Teacher Education (special education concentration) or Early Childhood Education majors who complete the program are eligible for additional certification in Autism/Severe Disabilities(K-12 in Delaware) through the 4+1 in Autism/Severe Disabilities program.

Advantages of these 4+1 programs include:

• **The ability to complete a master's degree in one year rather than two years.

• **Two supervised practicum experiences (student teaching as an undergraduate and a teaching internship as a graduate student).

• **You are gaining an area of expertise that will help you grow professionally.
•  
• **The additional certification may increase job prospects, and having a master's degree typically leads to a higher starting salary.
