Dr. Maulana Karenga
“BLACK Studies at 50: Critical Remembrance, Reaffirmation and Continued Struggle”
Dr. Maulana Karenga is professor and chair of the Department of Africana Studies at California State University, Long Beach. An activist scholar, he is the author of numerous scholarly articles and books including Introduction to Black Studies, 4th edition, Essays on Struggle: Position and Analysis, and Kwanzaa: A Celebration of Family, Community, and Culture. Also, he is the creator of the pan-African and African American cultural holiday of Kwanzaa and the Nguzo Saba (The Seven Principles).
