DESCRIPTION:"Maximizing the Science of Exoplanet Spectroscopy in the JWST E
ra"\n\n \n\nOver the past six years\, JWST has transformed our understandin
g of exoplanets. From the detection of new atmospheric gases to claims of p
ossible biosignatures\, discoveries are emerging at a breakneck pace and ra
pidly reshaping the field of exoplanet science. As the number of detected e
xoplanets (and observed exoplanet atmospheres) continues to grow\, the fiel
d is increasingly moving toward a holistic view of planet formation and evo
lution.\n\n \n\nHowever\, the introduction of JWST observations has also co
me with new challenges. New instrumental properties that can bias inference
s\, the overbearing influence of stellar contamination in the spectra of ma
ny planets\, and conflicting interpretations of the same results have all l
ed to questions about our ability to truly understand and interpret planeta
ry spectra. In order to build our picture of planetary evolution\, we must
be able to trust our inferences and provide reliable measurements of exopla
 net atmospheres.\n\n \n\nIn this talk\, I will discuss recent advances in e
xoplanet spectroscopy and outline strategies for robust\, trustworthy model
ing methods and analyses that will ultimately enable a deeper understanding
  of planets as a whole.
