About this Event
Free EventMaster Players Director Xiang Gao will have an in-depth conversation with Martin Katz, one of the world’s leading collaborative pianists. During this session, they will explore the art of being a true collaborator, Mr. Katz’ unparalleled career for 50 years in the field of vocal and instrumental music, his book “The Complete Collaborator,” and the stories of household name artists Mr. Katz has collaborated with on stage worldwide. They will also bring the audience into Xiang’s own experience as a former student of Martin Katz learning violin and piano sonatas during Xiang’s college years at the University of Michigan. While his recent concert with Xiang Gao was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Mr. Katz will speak about his previous performances on the Master Players stage, including directing the concert opera of “Magic Flute” in 2016, and his performance with tenor Lawrence Brownlee.
