Bank At School
Delaware K-8 teachers and school administrators are invited to explore establishing a Bank At School (BAS). BAS is a program endorsed by the Delaware State Bank Commissioner and produced by the Lerner Center for Economic Education and Entrepreneurship since 1992.
Partnering with as various Delaware banks and federal credit unions, the CEEE has produced this ongoing in-school program in as many as 70 different elementary schools state-wide.
Through BAS, students have the opportunity to open free non-custodial, no-fee savings accounts and make weekly deposits on school premises, nurturing the ethic of saving.
The Delaware State Board of Education recently implemented K-12 financial literacy standards. Participation in BAS helps Delaware teachers address these standards.
