Please join the Department of Africana Studies for an engaging conversation about the liberatory art of Black teaching and the origins of Black Studies. Professor Kathryn Benjamin Golden and Dr. Jarvis Givens will be in dialogue about the continued urgent need for Black curricular imagination in the service of Black communities, and Dr. Givens’ award winning book, Fugitive Pedagogy: Carter G. Woodson and the Art of Black Teaching (2021).
Dr. Givens joins us from Harvard University, where he is Assistant Professor at the Harvard Graduate School of Education and the Suzanne Young Murray Assistant Professor at the Radcliffe Institute for Advanced Study.
