Whether its text, audiovisual materials or internet memes, if you want to incorporate materials created by other people into your research or dissertation, you should always ask yourself, “Can I use that?”

During this virtual workshop, explore how to complete a fair use analysis for material you want to use in your research or dissertation. You’ll learn how the public domain works as well as how to analyze the copyright status of material you want to use.

You’ll also explore how copyright has changed over time, and how those changes affect your right to use various content when creating open educational resources.

Paige Morgan, head of Digital Initiatives and Preservation, will lead the workshop.

This workshop is open to the public. It is co-sponsored by the Graduate College.

Registration is required. Once registered, you will receive an email with details on how to join the workshop via Zoom. The workshop will not be recorded. To register please visit:
