The University of Delaware Carvel Research and Education Center in Georgetown invites the agriculture community to attend an Agronomic and Fruit and Vegetable Crop tour on Thursday, August 14, 2025, from 2:30 to 6 p.m. Registration begins at 2:30 p.m.

Attendees can select one of three tour tracks — agronomic crops, fruit and vegetables and poultry.

“The depth and diversity of research happening at this facility is something we’re incredibly proud of, and we’re eager to share these efforts with farmers across Delmarva,” said James Adkins, interim director of the Carvel Center. “Whether you grow corn and soybeans, raise poultry, or produce fresh market vegetables, there’s likely a project underway here that speaks directly to your interests.”

“We’re also excited to welcome several exhibitors to this year’s event, bringing back the spirit of our former Farm and Field Day gatherings,” Adkins added.

A detailed agenda for each tour is available at http://www.udel.edu/0013664.

A longstanding tradition at UD’s Georgetown campus, Carvel’s August tours provide an opportunity for UD Extension researchers and extension specialists to report out their research to farmers, certified crop advisors, agriculture industry professionals, and Cooperative Extension colleagues from neighboring regions. The opportunity to examine field conditions in real time provides agriculture stakeholders with valuable information for planning and managing crops.

Dinner will be provided for all registrants that RSVP by August 8 to Karen Adams at (302) 831-3328 or via email: adams@udel.edu. A scheduled rain date is Friday, August 15, 2025. The Carvel Center is located at 16483 County Seat Highway, Georgetown, Delaware 19947.
