Course Design Institute

This is a past event

This three-and-a-half-day institute takes place June 6-9, 2023, and will provide a personalized course design experience where you will be supported by CTAL staff (along with your colleagues) to create a new course or revise an existing one. During this multi-day workshop, you’ll create:

  • - New or revised student learning outcomes (SLOs) that are clear, measurable, and meaningful for your course.
  • - A major assignment/exam that emerges from those SLOs.
  • - A plan for including learning activities that prepare students for your major assignment or exam.
  • - An inclusive syllabus based on the UD Syllabus template.

Our institute will take place each day from 8:30 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. for days 1-3 (Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday). The 4th day (Friday) will be 8:30 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. We’ll provide coffee, a light breakfast each day, and lunch on the first three full days. All participants are expected to attend the complete program.

All instructors of record are welcome to attend; graduate students must be listed as an instructor of record for a course during the 2023-2024 academic year to register.

Seats are limited to 45 participants. Early registration is available now for faculty new to teaching at UD (hired within the past three years). Regular registration will be available from March 20th thru April 10th (or until seats are filled).
