Do we have a duty to vote? This question will be explored in academic debate between Julia Maskivker from Rollins College and Jason Brennan from Georgetown University on Thursday, March 13 at 5 p.m. in Memorial Hall 127.
Julia Maskivker is George and Harriet Cornell Distinguished Professor of Political Science at Rollins College. She specializes in political theory. Her books include The Duty to Vote and Self-Realization and Justice: A Liberal Perfectionist Defense of Freedom from Employment .
Jason Brennan is Robert J. and Elizabeth Flanagan Family Professor of Strategy, Economics, Ethics, and Public Policy at Georgetown University. He specializes in politics, philosophy, and economics. His many books include Democracy: A Guided Tour, Why It’s OK to Want to Be Rich, Good Work if You Can Get It, Against Democracy, and Why Not Capitalism? .
