Abstract: Denniston Partial Difference Sets (PDSs) were first discovered in 1969 in the context of maximal arcs in Desarguesian projective planes of even order. Ball, Blokhuis, and Mazzocca proved that maximal arcs (PDSs) do not exist in (Desarguesian) projective planes of odd order, leading to decades of neglect. However, recent progress has occurred in 2 primary directions: (1) finding Denniston PDSs in nonabelian groups of order 64; and (2) finding Denniston PDSs in elementary abelian groups of odd order (NOT maximal arcs). We will give an overview of these new results.
