Fifty Years of Title IX: Saluting Women’s Sports at UD

The Department of Women and Gender Studies and UD Athletics will host a special event celebrating 50 years of Title IX, the landmark equal-opportunity law that gave female student-athletes access to competitive sports, as well as educational and professional opportunities. The evening includes the screening of “Rise of the Wahine: Champions of Title IX,” a film providing a historic look at the significance of Title IX and sports, and a panel discussion on the state of the game for women in sports featuring members of UD's women's basketball and volleyball teams. The discussion will examine what it means to play for UD’s great teams and what the future holds for women’s sports. The event takes place Monday, Feb. 20 from 7-9pm in Gore Recital Hall at the Roselle Center for the Arts.
