Join us for a screening of the powerful 2022 film documenting the construction of the Memorial to Enslaved Laborers at the University of Virginia and a conversation with the filmmakers, Erika Duda (Director) and Jessica Harris (Consulting Producer). Drawing on interviews with students, professors, and Charlottesville community members, as well as descendants of the enslaved laborers who constructed and maintained the university, The Lives Between the Lines illuminates the difficult history of an American institution and honors the legacy of the community in which it lives – and helps shed light on how the University of Delaware might address slavery’s legacy here, as well.

Film Screening begins @ 4:15pm, Talkback at 5:15pm

Sponsored by the UD History Department, the College of Arts and Sciences, and the Center for Material Culture Studies at the University of Delaware
