Congresswoman Sarah McBride will examine the question of hope in today’s cynical age as the speaker of the 2025 James R. Soles Lecture on the Constitution and Citizenship. The event, presented by the Department of Political Science and International Relations, will be held Friday, Dec. 5 at 4 p.m. in Clayton Hall.

 

Registration is required by Monday, Dec. 1. Admission for guests who are not registered is not guaranteed. Attendees who registered for the Sept. 19 date must register again for the Dec. 5 date. 

 

NOTE: Due to expected interest in this event, doors to Clayton Hall will open at 3:00 p.m. Guests should plan to arrive no later than 3:30 p.m. to allow time for check in, security screening and to select seats. Seating is general admission and will be done on a first-come, first-served basis. 

 

Professor James R. Soles made enormous contributions to the Department of Political Science and International Relations, to the University of Delaware and to the First State during his 34-year long career at UD. This annual lecture recognizes the impact Dr. Soles had on generations of UD students and his deep engagement in Delaware politics and policy. The lecture is funded by the James R. Soles Citizenship Endowment.
