Friends 4 Friends General Interest Meeting
“You’ve got a friend in me.”
Friends 4 Friends mission statement is to create a haven on campus where everyone has a friend to turn to for support. Our group advocates for mental health awareness by raising funds to improve the accessibility of mental health resources on UD’s campus, as well as the quality of it. We want to ensure every student struggling has an outlet to turn to if needed. With the help of Connor’s loved ones, including and especially his mother, Lori Mullen, we are holding our first annual Mental Health Awareness and Suicide Prevention Walk at the University of Delaware’s campus on April 15th, 2018.
Suicide is one of the leading causes of death in college students. Statistics show that roughly 121 suicides take place every day. Our mission is to do our part in raising awareness to this epidemic, and to show support to those struggling with mental health and suicidal thoughts. Connor was just a regular UD student; he went to class, the gym, he was involved in organizations on campus. Connor was our friend; this can happen to any student, friend, or loved one if we don't take a stand and make a change. We strive to educate, inspire, and exude genuine support for our friends and those suffering. Our mission is to encourage students to be a friend towards one another, and to lend a helping hand to any and all of those struggling with mental health. It is time for our campus to come together to make a change. Join us on our journey to making a change.
