Dr. Thomas (Dusty) Deringer
Vice President, Patient Experience
Compass One Healthcare
Following a decade of service in varying front-line and leadership capacities to hospitals in Arkansas, Missouri, Wisconsin, and South Carolina, Dr. Deringer joined Compass One Healthcare in 2010 as Vice President of Patient Experience. In this capacity, Dr. Deringer is responsible for patient experience strategy, operations, and outcomes in more than 1,500 partner hospitals nationwide, leading a corporate patient experience team, as well as more than 250 hospital-based patient experience professionals, representing Crothall Healthcare and Morrison Healthcare, collectively known as Compass One Healthcare. Dr. Deringer also serves as an adjunct professor, teaching Health Communication, at Missouri State University.
Dr. Deringer received a Bachelor in Business Administration from American InterContinental University, a Master of Science from Missouri State University, and a doctoral degree from The Chicago School, focusing his dissertation on engagement and related outcomes of hospital support services workers.
He has served his community as a coach, firefighter, emergency medical technician, city councilman, vice president of his local chamber of commerce, and he currently serves on the local school board.
Dr. Deringer lives in his hometown of Baxter Springs, Kansas with his wife Shea and their two teenage boys, Dasan and Jackson. The Deringers are foster parents who are active in reforming the foster care system in Kansas.
