Talk title: Individual Development Plan Workshop

 Abstract:

Individual development plans (IDPs) are a tool to help advisors and graduate students discuss research in a mutually beneficial way. IDPs provide a framework in which progress, goals, and obstacles can be discussed constructively, and are a useful way to improve any advising relationship. This seminar will explain and role play how to use IDPs and answer questions about their use. Time for workshopping each participant’s IDP will also be provided.  Everyone is strongly encouraged to fill out the IDP ahead of time.
