Resilience Engineering Mini Symposium

Invited speakers from the Oregon Department of Geology & Mineral Industries, University of Paris East Marne la Valleé, University of Maryland, Hinman Consulting Engineers Inc.,
Ecole des Ingénieurs de la Ville de Paris, Western Management and Consulting, LLC., Center for Complex Adaptive Sociotechnological Systems at the Stevens Institute of Technology, Rabin & Berdo PC, DELDOT and the University of Delaware, as well as other areas of government, industry and academia.

Topics include Viability Theory, the Federal Disaster Declaration of 2006, solar energy for water purification applications, critical infrastructure resilience, critical transporation infrastructure protection, urban engineering and gap analysis on critical infrastructure reliability, among
other topics.

Goals:
To provide a rigorous approach for studying this new emerging area
To demonstrate how researchers from various disciplines address the issue of resilience
To develop metrics for resiliency and methods for designing resilient systems
To study the connection between resilience and sustainability
