Recreation Movement 2020
In response to Covid-19, Riddle & Bloom and NIRSA, in collaboration with in collaboration with TikTok and numerous Colleges and Universities, launched the 2020 Recreation Movement. This virtual fitness program collects millions of movement minutes from participants, while connecting university students, faculty, staff, and alumni from across the country to offer opportunities for self-care and a sense of community during these uncertain times. The 2020 Recreation Movement is an online initiative encourages participants to keep moving during quarantine through daily fitness challenges and workout classes, as well as individual exercises activity such as walking, running and hiking.
The University of Delaware cemented its partnership, joining 100+ academic institutions in the Fall 2020 National Recreation Movement, sharing a variety of live and/or prerecorded workout classes on http://2020recreationmovement.com such as yoga, high-intensity interval training (HIIT), cardio strength options, dance formats, and more. The 2020 Recreation Movement offers a leaderboard to display schools’ active minutes logged by users, maintaining college rivalry during the duration of the program. The competition doesn’t stop there, as each week, five students who enter 200 or more minutes in that week will be entered to win a shirt from one of the participating Recreation Movement schools!
The 2020 Recreation Movement helps the community of students, alumni, university staff and faculty remain positive and healthy. Staying active together, even when we’re apart. While focus on physical distance, wearing masks, and hand-washing can prevent the spread of Covid-19, movement and connection are also necessary for mental, physical, and emotion health. Let’s utilize the 2020 Recreation Movement as another tool to protect the flock!
