Exploring the Design, Implementation, and Potential of Educational Data Mining in Music Context-Situated Coding Activities
Abstract:
In this report, we investigate the feasibility of learning programming process behaviors in a music-based programming environment. We develop a fine-grained automatic programming event logging system with the data structure following ProgSnap2 data sharing standards. We Design a case study with an open-ended task for practical programming event collection and analysis. Our findings demonstrate the ability of our system and programming behaviors that the system could reveal. Our work provides an application of data sharing standards to the community and the potential of logging programming behaviors to help design the curriculum and guide students individually based on their programming process.
