Student Free Speech Week Interactive Program

This is a past event

Join PEN America for an interactive program just for students, about free speech and inclusion in the United States today.

PEN America’s Campus Free Speech director, Jonathan Friedman, will cover the basics of the First Amendment and how it has been interpreted by the Supreme Court. Together, you’ll work through case studies about recent and ongoing legal challenges related to free speech, social media, free press, the proliferation of hate groups, and online harassment.
