Study Abroad Interest Meeting: Winter 2020 Paris, France BISC

This is a past event

Study the historical and cultural influences on Biomedical Science in Paris, a vibrant city known for its central role in art, history, music, culture and the sciences. Learn the fascinating story of Jean-Baptiste Denis and the first blood transfusions in humans to explore the science of the cardiovascular system and blood together with the historical, political, religious and downright petty ego-based events that shaped his work. The program will be centered on the book Blood Work: A Tale of Medicine and Murder in the Scientific Revolution by Dr. Holly Tucker. Whether you’re interested in Biomedical Sciences, French history or how society influences the progress of science, this Winter Session program in Paris is your chance to learn while experiencing living in the City of Light.
