The 18th Emerging Scholars Symposium (ESS) is a conference run entirely by UD graduate students from across disciplines with a shared interest in Material Culture. This year we've invited 11 graduate students and emerging scholars from around the country to participate in moderated panels on topics such as Eco-critical Material Culture, Material Culture & Identity, and Material Culture & Collecting and to run workshops including a behind-the-scenes exhibit tour at Hagley and a group study of 19th-century fortune-telling cards. The Keynote Address will be given by art historian, Dr. Jennifer Chuong, Univeristy of Illonois - Urbana-Champaign. All lectures, panels, and workshops are free and open to UD's communities.
