DESCRIPTION:The 18th Emerging Scholars Symposium (ESS) is a conference run 
 entirely by UD graduate students from across disciplines with a shared inte
 rest in Material Culture. This year we've invited 11 graduate students and 
 emerging scholars from around the country to participate in moderated panel
 s on topics such as Eco-critical Material Culture\, Material Culture & Iden
 tity\, and Material Culture & Collecting and to run workshops including a b
 ehind-the-scenes exhibit tour at Hagley and a group study of 19th-century f
 ortune-telling cards. The Keynote Address will be given by art historian\, 
 Dr. Jennifer Chuong\, Univeristy of Illonois - Urbana-Champaign. All lectur
 es\, panels\, and workshops are free and open to UD's communities. Be sure 
 to register by April 20 to hold your spot!
