About this Event
The Yellow Boat is a play written by David Saar and based on the true story of his son Benjamin, who was born with hemophilia and died from AIDS-related complications in 1987 at the age of 8. The play is a tribute to Benjamin and all children and explores themes such as death, dying, AIDS, and the power of art and imagination to transform lives. It's told through the eyes of Benjamin and follows his short but creative life, including the joys and sorrows of a normal childhood, as well as the challenges his family faced with hemophilia and HIV. The play also shows how Benjamin's imagination helped him transform his physical and emotional pain into colorful drawings and paintings that inspired those around him.
