About this Event
Rose Simpson is a ceramicist and mixed-media artist who lives and works at Santa Clara Pueblo, NM, and is currently a visiting artist in residence at Philadelphia's Fabric Workshop and Museum. Simpson’s lecture will reflect on her own relationship to culture (indigenous and otherwise), environmentalism, material and media. A mixed-media sculptor with a focus on materials from ceramics to custom cars, Simpson critically navigates her own involvement in contemporary art culture and extractive capitalistic practices. Learn more at https://www.rosebsimpson.com/. Simpson’s lecture is the inaugural public event of the Center for Material Culture Studies' Thing Tank Research Forum.
