2024 Turfgrass Plot Walk & Sprayer Calibration

Come join me on October 18th from 4:00 pm to 5:30 pm at the Turfgrass Demonstration and Research Facility in Newark, DE for a walk through the plots as we cover various issues related to pesticide applications and nutrient management for turfgrass systems.

The following topics will be covered:

  • Identify any pests present in both cool- and warm-season grasses and discuss their management and control as it relates to Integrated Pest Management (IPM)
  • Discuss the impact on turfgrass selection from the newly established 2024-2028 Kentucky bluegrass National Turfgrass Evaluation Program (NTEP) trial and the 2024-2026 fine leaf fescue Certified Turfgrass Breeders Trial (CTBT)
  • We will conduct a hands-on boom sprayer calibration together and demonstrate how nozzle selection can greatly impact both nutrient and pesticide applications.
  • Research updates for tall fescue nutrient requirements and the establishment of the fine fescues for use in a low-input meadow
