The University of Delaware invites students to participate in the Voices of UD Audio Essay Contest and join a campus-wide conversation. Enter by December 10 to be eligible for prizes worth up to $500. For guidelines and instructions, visit www..cpc.udel.edu/voices.

Why is everyone so angry? Emotions are on edge in this historic era of political and social extremes. Submit a 2- to 4-minute recorded audio essay that considers these questions:

  • What makes people in your community angry? Why?
  • What makes you angry? Why?
  • How are you responding to these intense emotions? What actions are you taking, if any?
  • How do you see your role as a citizen in the American democracy?

First Prize is $500, Second Prize is $250, Third Prize is $100, and three Honorable Mention Prizes are $50 each. Delaware Public Media may broadcast the winning essays. Finalists will be announced on the CPC's website (www.cpc.udel.edu) in February 2022. The finalists will be invited to attend a public event held during the spring 2022 semester. Winners will be announced at an awards event next spring. We will email contest results to finalists who are unable to attend in person.
