Wednesday Tech Forum (WTF!) - Dr. Cindy Guo, From Research to Real-World AI: Applying Machine Learning in the Financial Industry

Dr. Cindy Guo is an Applied AI/ML Lead in the Machine Learning Center of Excellence at JPMorgan Chase, where she works on natural language processing and generative AI technologies. Prior to joining industry, she earned her PhD in Electrical & Computer Engineering from the University of Delaware, where her research focused on computer vision, multimodal emotion recognition, and graph neural networks.

In this talk, Dr. Guo will share her journey from academic research to applied AI in the financial industry. She will introduce the Machine Learning Center of Excellence (MLCOE) at JPMorgan Chase and discuss the types of machine learning and natural language processing work her team focuses on. She will also share insights into the skills and backgrounds companies look for when hiring AI and machine learning talent, how students can prepare for industry roles, and practical advice for pursuing careers in applied AI.
