In some courses, students are encouraged to use AI tools like ChatGPT or Grammarly in their academic work. In others, use of AI is not allowed at all. How can students go beyond being passive users/not users of generative AI to establish their own position on what they think is ethical use? In this workshop, participants will hear an overview of arguments about the ethics of AI use, from concerns about environmental impact and influence on the learning process to questions about how to properly cite AI-generated material. Participants will then engage in conversation about their own position on the ethics of this emerging technology.

All spring 2026 Writing Center workshops will be held on Zoom. After registering, participants will receive a link to join the event. To register for this workshop: https://forms.gle/VGt3Zaxpn8Fnn1zj6
