NFO aims to provide new faculty with an understanding of the UD academic environment, connecting them to resources and support services, and preparing them for teaching and interacting with students.

This event is supported by a comprehensive course site on Canvas, UD’s Learning Management System. Long before Lincoln's birthday was a federal holiday, local groups and clubs held festive dinners every February to mark his birth and celebrate his contributions to the nation. From log cabins and law offices to taverns and courthouses, buildings associated with Lincoln have been branded with historical markers and turned into sites of heritage tourism.

Organized in celebration of the 250th anniversary of American independence, Hallowed Grounds draws from the Lincoln Club of Delaware’s Abraham Lincoln Collection in Special Collections to explore how and why Lincoln is honored and remembered across generations. Through books, event programs, menus, maps and ephemera, visitors are invited to explore the many shrines and tributes to Lincoln across our land and reflect on the unique place he holds in American memory.

Over the past century, it has been shaped by legal challenges, shifting cultural norms, and ongoing disagreements in both educational and religious spaces about what, how, and whether it should be taught in schools.

Where Do We Go From Here? The History and Future of Sex Education in the United States explores this complex history through a wide range of materials spanning from the early 20th century to the present. The exhibition brings together school curricula, legal documents addressing the implementation of sex education in public schools, as well as advice books aimed at both parents and adolescents. These materials reveal how public understanding of sex education has evolved over time and how deeply it has been influenced by changing social attitudes, policy decisions, and cultural expectations.

By presenting these items side by side, the exhibition invites visitors to consider not only how sex education has changed, but also the persistent gaps that remain. It encourages reflection on questions of access, inclusion, identity, and ability, and asks us to think critically about what equitable and comprehensive sex education could look like in the future.

Organized in celebration of the 250th anniversary of American independence, Hallowed Grounds draws from the Lincoln Club of Delaware’s Abraham Lincoln Collection in Special Collections to explore how and why Lincoln is honored and remembered across generations. Through books, event programs, menus, maps and ephemera, visitors are invited to explore the many shrines and tributes to Lincoln across our land and reflect on the unique place he holds in American memory.

Hallowed Grounds is on view from August 25 through December 18, 2026, in the Lincoln Exhibition Case, which is located outside the Special Collections Gallery in Morris Library. The exhibition is free and open to the public during the Library’s regular hours.

Our expert staff work closely with these materials on a daily basis–acquiring new items, describing and preparing collections for use, and coordinating instruction sessions and research visits. While hundreds of visitors engage with Special Collections each year, the staff who care for these materials often form personal connections to the items they encounter along the way. What sparks their curiosity? What memories, emotions or reflections emerge while processing a collection or handling an object?

In Personal Lives: Staff Selections from Special Collections, visitors are invited to explore collection materials chosen by individual staff members that highlight a personal connection, interest or story. From new acquisitions to old favorites, the items on view offer a window into the people behind Special Collections and the meaning they make from the collections in their care.

The exhibition is on view August 25, 2026 - May 28, 2027 in the Special Collections Gallery in Morris Library. The Special Collections Gallery is open to the public Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Admission is free.

Over the past century, it has been shaped by legal challenges, shifting cultural norms, and ongoing disagreements in both educational and religious spaces about what, how, and whether it should be taught in schools.

Where Do We Go From Here? The History and Future of Sex Education in the United States explores this complex history through a wide range of materials spanning from the early 20th century to the present. The exhibition brings together school curricula, legal documents addressing the implementation of sex education in public schools, as well as advice books aimed at both parents and adolescents. These materials reveal how public understanding of sex education has evolved over time and how deeply it has been influenced by changing social attitudes, policy decisions, and cultural expectations.

By presenting these items side by side, the exhibition invites visitors to consider not only how sex education has changed, but also the persistent gaps that remain. It encourages reflection on questions of access, inclusion, identity, and ability, and asks us to think critically about what equitable and comprehensive sex education could look like in the future.

Far beyond Illinois, the famed “Land of Lincoln,” statues and memorials to the sixteenth president pepper the nation’s landscape. Long before Lincoln's birthday was a federal holiday, local groups and clubs held festive dinners every February to mark his birth and celebrate his contributions to the nation. From log cabins and law offices to taverns and courthouses, buildings associated with Lincoln have been branded with historical markers and turned into sites of heritage tourism.
