This workshop will focus on planting, growing and using herbs, and will provide herbal descriptions, and history and lore. Do you want to start a compost pile in your backyard or community garden? This introduction to composting will help you to get started. You will learn the basic requirements to start and maintain a compost pile, the do’s and don’ts, and type of system that is right for you. Once you are on your way to composting, you can reap all the benefits of using compost in your garden!

ServSafe Food Protection Manager Training

Food Safety Training for Professionals, Food Service Workers, and Quantity Food Preparers.

New Certification costs $175 and includes textbook, exam, and full day class with lunch (9am-6pm).

Recertification costs $85 and includes just the exam (3:30-6pm).

All attendees must register in advance. Registration closes 3 weeks prior to class date.

Aug 25, 2026: Dining with Diabetes - New Castle County at New Castle County Cooperative Extension

ABOUT THE PROGRAM

Following a careful meal plan is the first step in managing diabetes and keeping blood sugars in a therapeutic range. It is also the hardest step. Dining with Diabetes helps by teaching people with diabetes ways to reduce sugar, salt and fat in foods without giving up good taste.

PARTICIPANTS

People with diabetes and their family members, caregivers and support persons can enroll in Dining with Diabetes. Anyone, with or without diabetes, can attend. This program is designed to complement, not replace, diabetes management classes.

INSTRUCTORS

Classes are taught by University of Delaware Cooperative Extension staff.

WHAT TO EXPECT

Class 1 - Mealtime for individuals with Diabetes

Class 2 - Desserts

Class 3 - Main Dishes

Class 4 - Side Dishes

Class 5 - Seasonal Reunion

CLASS DATES

Tuesday May 5, 12, 19 and 26, 2026

Reunion Date: August 25, 2026

CLASS TIME

6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

VOUCHERS

Due to generous funding from the Greater Milford Lions Club, residents of Greater Milford can enroll in this class free of charge (Please select the appropriate line on the registration form for free enrollment.)

Participants in the State of Delaware Diabetes Self-Management Education Program or Bayhealth Diabetes Self-Management Education and Support Program can submit their voucher for free enrollment. Please include your voucher with registration.
